Dr. Katherine Thigpin obtained her doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 and joined the staff at Ashland Terrace Animal Hospital. In 2002, Dr. Thigpin began raising dairy goats and got "hooked!" Since that time she has been treating small ruminant patients (goats, sheep, alpaca, lama) at her barn in Sale Creek. Retiring from Ashland Terrace Animal Hospital after 32 years, she is now enjoying expanding her own practice utilizing "state of the art" equipment and methods in Sale Creek. Dr. Thigpin has additional certification in Veterinary Forensic Science through the University of Florida. She has extensive experience in cancer treatment, ultrasonography, and ophthalmology.
Dr. Thigpin enjoys sharing her love and knowledge of animals with others. She is available for presentations at conferences and group meetings. Since 2007, Dr. Thigpin has taught a variety of science courses to groups of homeschool students. Dr. Thigpin and her husband Keith have two sons, Brian and Allen.
